Looks like you’ve got a lot of plans!
It’s time to make them S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely )
To help make all of this happen, you need a clear plan with steps to help you make progress, build momentum, and make it happen 🙂
I recommend focusing on 2-3 “big” goals per quarter and breaking them down into steps that are done either:
-Monthly (one single step that needs to be done once per month)
-Weekly (a single step that needs to be done weekly)
– Daily (A single step that needs to be done daily)
- 2-3 big steps per month
- 3-5 weekly tasks
- 3-5 daily tasks
What we measure, grows!
To get started transforming these into mini action plans, take a sheet of paper for each of them, write the goal across the top, and start writing down everything you need to do in order to make it happen. EVERYTHING! All the nitty gritty details.
Once that phase is done, you can arrange them in the right order and figure out reasonable timelines to have things done by.
- guest list
- press release
- day & time
- schedule of events
-plus list of everything you want completed in time for the party (with their own “done by” dates)
Once you have the list, you can start making them SMART
(Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely )
Create a ‘dream’ guest list by June 1st
Create a pared down realistic guest list that fits your budget by July 1st
Collect guest list addresses (starting asap and finishing by July 28th)
– Email/call people you don’t have addresses for by July 5th to have time for them to get back to you and for you to follow up again on July 15th for stragglers)
Set a date & time for the party by July 10th
Have invitations designed by July 15th
Address invitations (or have addressed by calligrapher) by August 5th (invitations should be mailed at least 6 weeks in advance)
Now you can actually schedule steps on a calendar along with their final due dates so that you know that everything is taken care of, nothing will be missed, and you’ll be making steady progress with no stress!
The key to all of this is that the plan is still flexible even if you write it down and to not be hard on yourself if you move things around. This is merely a framework to help you make great progress towards making your dreams a reality with the least amount of stress 🙂
